A one-day course for anyone going to sea, providing an understanding of how to use the safety equipment on board your boat.
The RYA Basic Sea Survival course teaches you the personal survival techniques required to be able to maximise your chances of survival in the event of immersion in cold water. A fun day which includes a two hour pool session, this course aims to help skippers and their crews in awareness of safety, emergency situations, and the use of emergency equipment. Format:
Practical use of liferafts (in pool) and the equipment they contain, survival techniques, the design of lifejackets, medical aspects of sea survival, search and rescue techniques.
Requirements/ Prerequisites:
No experience required.
Ability after course:
Student will have an understanding of how to use the safety equipment on board your boat and how to deal with a range of emergency situations. Upon successful completion all candidates will be issued with an STCW Personal Survival Techniques Certificate.
This course is supervised by fully qualified instructors and is suitable for non-swimmers.
